‘Currents’ is the latest release from Ushamami, and it comes from her debut EP Ladyboy which is out in April. Also known as DJ Meyna, Ushamami is based in Providence, Rhode Island and performs across the genres of grime, R&B, house and afrobeat. Her music is a refreshing femme sound in the electronic scene and an emerging artist that has the potential to become a known name outside of the US. It’ll be interesting to see what direction she takes over the next few years.

This latest release is smooth R&B with layers of female vocals and melodic rhymes. Ushamami will be giving a live performance of her EP at the Fri-Ends Collective’s debut on February 8 in New York. The full EP will be available on Apple Music, Spotify, itunes, and Soundcloud. One to watch over the next year.
