Performing at the Roisín Dubh this Saturday at 12am will be a trio of seasoned residents, bringing you as much house, funk, soul, and disco tunes as you can handle. Nitetales has been playing tunes around the festival circuit, and plays deep on Phever radio. Mitch Presents is a Galway based DJ and promoter who you can catch playing in Caribou, Carbon, The Blue Note to name but a few, and of course at the Roisín. Conor Gilleran is a former chairperson of DIT DJ Soc, and apparently goes by the name C_Gills.
A fairly well known name in the Irish electronic scene, DJ Deece is leaving his Dublin residency to belt out some house music in the West. Also known as Niall D’Arcy, he has played at just about every Irish festival going. A resident at the Workman’s Club since it opened in 2010, and also with the club crew Hidden Agenda, Deece has made a groove for himself in the architecture of the local music scene. Doors at 11pm.
NOIR has been hosting club nights in Galway for the past two years, and has been continuously bringing electronic acts to the city and the dance floor of Carbon Nightclub. Along with local student club night organisers HomeGrown Events, they bring Dublin native Krystal Klear to the decks. Krystal Klear has been performing since 2010 and has worked with various house music names and performers, while also featuring on the needs-no-introduction music station Rinse FM. Advance tickets are on sale now, at €5 each plus booking fee.
Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets are Detroit Swindle. They came together seven years ago in Amsterdam over a mutual love of hip-hop and early house music. Following this they formed the label Heist Recordings and have collaborated with other labels such as Future Classics, Dirt Crew, and Freerange. Coming out of nowhere and becoming one of Europe’s most sought after duos, they have made a significant mark on house music. Tickets for this one currently stand at €10 plus booking fee.
PUZZLEvents has been bringing both emerging acts and established wub makers of the Irish and international drum & bass scene to Galway since 2014. Focussing on the darker sound waves of D’n’B, PUZZLE has added some new textures to the local music scene. This event sees Italian producer Merikan take over. He broke onto the scene in 2017, and has since worked with Blackout Music NL, the electronic platform MethLab, and the label PRSPCT Recordings. With Merikan on the night will be PUZZLE residents Phunty, Scimmia, and Noise Agent. Arrive before 11pm to grab a ticket for €8.
In Factory next weekend, house and techno noise makers Basement Project take over and bring you more select electronic sounds from down the rabbit hole. From secret parties to gigs all over town, Basement Project has taken Galway on a trip around acid house and techno for several years. The night will see BP residents Ian Hart, Ootep, and Colman Buckley play out the night. The group has played nights alongside producers such as Cailín, Maedbh O’Connor, Welfare, and Jon Hussey. Doors at 11pm, and early tickets are €5.
