There is no need to look very far for musical talent in Ireland, because as you stroll form coastline, to city, and to coastline again, you’ll have inevitably gathered a varied collection of native music in your bucket of pebbles and sea shells.

Tomorrow evening, DANI and Sive – two musicians, singers, and songwriters – bring their island tour to Galway. At The Secret Garden, 8pm, you can experience some native talent in the relaxing atmosphere of one of Galway’s best loved tucked away cafés.

DANI is a singer, songwriter and guitarist, whose musical roots are in the sounds of trad, blues, folk, and showbands. She combines earthy blues style vocals with acoustic guitar playing, and you can hear her move through rhythms and textures in her EP It Speaks for Itself. She performed this EP to a sold out show in in The Black Box Belfast in 2013, and since then she has played at blues festivals in her hometown Armagh, and at music events in Dublin, Derry, Scotland, and Liverpool. DANI’s music has been well received in Ireland and beyond, and over the next few days she will tour Galway, Limerick, and Dundalk. DANI also works on humanitarian projects, using music to create safe spaces for young people and refugees. In July 2017, she travelled to Indonesia to facilitate music workshops, and to tour with Kunokini.

Sive is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She draws inspiration from folk and jazz music, twinning this with her light vocal melodies and harmonies. Her music has brought her on a worldwide adventure, from Germany, to the Netherlands, New Zealand, the UK, and back home to Ireland again. Her latest album, The Roaring Girl, was the product of a very successful crowdfunding campaign in 2016, and this music was preceded by We Are Moving, the debut release of her own original music in 2012. Sive has been recognised by the Irish music community in a positive way; in 2014 she appeared on RTÉ’s Other Voices as the viewer’s choice, and she has also performed on several national stations and arts programmes.
